your troubles are your board does not support sticks larger than 512mb .......... there werent any ONE gig sticks around in the day your mobo was king

if THEY dont list one gig sticks for your board as an option; then it aint gonna happen

corsair / crucial / OCZ / gskill / Patriot / muskin all have configurators
The thing is, the system won't now boot even with the original RAM installed - 2 x 256MB sticks. The motherboard manual clearly states the maximum memory up to 1GB in each of the 3 slots - total 3GB.

which indicates 1GB is OK.
