It really shouldn't, but sometimes if there are errors in the formatting (especially if the table that holds your files names gets corrupt), it can cause an installation to go bad.
If you're going to try the install again, I would recommend clearing out all the partitions before you start again, and use the full format instead of the quick format when you get to that step.
