BIOS Problem

Hi Folks,
I hope you can help.
After downloading Windows SP3 my PC went into continuos reboot. I Googled for a fix, but apparently there is none. Yet.
I purchased a WD 500GB Caviar SATA hard drive and reinstalled Windows XP Home. All works fine to this point.
However, after reconnecting my two IED drives, my BIOS doesn't recognize my WD SATA, and of course Windows does not boot. If I disconnect the two IDE drives then I have no problem. The BIOS sees the WD SATA and Windows XP Home boots fine.
However, I would like to connect my two IDE drives in order to use them and access my data.
The tech at BestBuy said I needed to upgrade my BIOS with Flash.
I have made a Flash floppy with what I hope is the correct update, which I purchased on-line. After talking to that company tech he assured me this was the correct Flash I needed. However I have not yet done the Flash, as I am fairly new at working the innards of my PC.
I have P4 Titan Intel 865G Chipset
GA-81G1000MK
AGP 8X / Dual Channel DDR

I do hope you can help, offer suggestions, or point me in the right direction.
