Slowdowns/Jumpy Mouse Movement

As of late, I've been experiencing some very odd slowdowns at completely random times. Normally its a complete system slow down, my mouse only moves in slow, jumpy, delayed movements, animated GIF images (if on screen) will slow down or stop...etc etc.

The other thing, which I feel is connected to this...is if I have music playing via iTunes, through the internet, etc, if I do something like open a program or click a website link (any change in web page, normally only while loading) the song will break up, mouse goes jumpy for a moment...etc, only until it stops loading.

It seems like its some cache thats filling up too fast and just stopping data...but I've had much slower computers not even come close to doing odd things like this...but then again, I've no other computers that run vista. I find it odd to have this occur since it has plenty of memory, plenty of hard drive space, video is integrated, but 256 variable is allowed to share...I frequently defragment (both Diskeeper & Auslogics DD), I run AdAware & SB S&D, and AVG 8 on a daily scan, so I'm almost positive I've no adware, malware, trojans, etc..

Specs I can throw out are..

Toshiba Satellite A135-S4407
Intel Core Duo T2250, 1.73GHz, 2MB L2
2GB DDR2-533 (PC2-4200)
100GB 5400 Hitachi SATA HD

Thanks for any help that might be available.
