that line right there...says your computer is talking to the modem but the modem isn't giving your computer the right information it needs to get on the internet.

But, with the motorola modems, when ever you hook up a different device to the modem, or connect using a different wire (example ethernet and USB) you need to pull the power plug from the back of the modem for 30 seconds to reset it. Plug the ethernet cable into the modem and laptop, make sure to unplug the USB cable. Then plug the power to the modem back in and see if that works for ya.

You'll have to do the same thing when you hook up the router also. But for plugging everythign back in, connectedthe modem and router with the ethernet cable, then plug the modem in first, let the top four lights come on solid green, then plug the power to the router in.
