Sorry to bump an old thread. I'm having this same problem. You can fix it by setting the resolution to 1600x1200, though I actually want the lower resolutions for my games. Playing games in a 3x5 box is rather annoying. I tried downloading the latest drivers for my graphics card and still everytime I lower the resolution I get that annoying shrunk box effect. I don't see an options in the graphics properties to stretch low res to full size and there isn't an option in BIOS that I see. I even flashed to the last released BIOS.

My old gateway laptop does the same thing but there is an option in BIOS to scale low res graphics to full screen. Does anyone know a workaround or even have an idea what to try next?
