Thanks :) it's a satellite m100 - so bought in 2005, but m100 is listed below and it sounds like pulling it to bits will be involved. My dad will hopefully be able do this. I will also call toshiba and ask them if they'll fix it - they said they weren't able to order any parts of the weird battery prob I've been having as the machine was bought in Malaysia (we're in Australia).
