Cry [SOLVED] Unable to run full Panda scan, pc reboots

I was receiving the following error message for about a week, right on startup but it didn't seem to be affecting my laptop usage/programs.

"C:\Windows\System32\{990650ac-815d-d1bc-5ee2-9a50eb3219e0}.dll specified module could not be found"

I was using my laptop at work, and then just left it running while I worked on another pc. When I returned to my laptop (an hour or two later), it was 'frozen'. The message that was up on the 'frozen' screen was something like this, "Adobe Reader files corrupted...". I could not Ctrl+Alt+Delete to shut down, so I had to power off using the power button. FYI, the previous night Windows ran an update, and that morning Avast has run updates.

Upon reboot, my laptop ran ChkDisk and had deleted some index values. When Windows started up, I tried to run an Avast scan (from the icon), but it froze then rebooted itself. ChkDisk ran again, deleted index entries 'wsus3setup.cab' and 'wsus3s~1.cab', then recovered orphaned files. I tried this a couple times with similar results.

Then I tried rebooting again, when Windows rebooted, I opened Avast (skipping the memory test) and scheduled a boot scan on next startup. Then I restarted my laptop. Avast found the following during it's boot scan:
"C:\Documents & Settings\Suzeq\Local Settings\Temp\aupd.exe... infected with Win32: Fotomoto [Adw]" I moved to chest when prompted, and selected 'for all' should any others be found.
"C:\System Volume Info\_restore...{593F298F-B7D6-4A3D-A260-6D7E68E3F587} 1RP1\A0001015.dll... infected with Win32: Adware-gen [Adw]" This was automatically moved to chest.

Once Windows booted after the boot scan, it kept freezing before I even had a change to really try anything else (open Avast, view chest, run online scan, etc...). I found your website and started to try and follow your 5 steps so that I could post here. It kept freezing, not allowing me to fully complete the steps.

I have no illegal software, none of the programs listed in Step1, and none of the rogue or suspect programs listed on the spywarewarrior website. After a few tries of freezing up, I was able to partially run the Panda scan. I thought it would complete, but when it reached about 89% it got stuck on this file, wmpencen.dll (this is the same file Avast got stuck on as well when I first started trying to fix this problem). I tried a few times, all with the same results. Unfortunately I cannot complete this step, but the last time it ran I had 2 infected and 8 vulnerabilities detected at 21% complete. I tried to move onto the other steps, but it won’t allow me to use Internet Explorer before IE encounters an error and needs to shut down.

Even when I reboot (using the start menu and choosing shutdown, then restart), ChkDisk runs on startup. I’m at a loss as to what to do next.

Sorry, I'm running XP Media.

Please help me!
