Re: Blue screen 0x0000008E vista (Acer laptop) - please help!
Hi Katie. . .
I have given the 60+ files that you sent to me a cursory look. It is clearly evident to me that some catastrophic system event(s) occurred on March 18, 2008, 19:47 hours. Take a look in msinfo32 - Software Environment, Windows Error Reporting tab.
Also, there is one primary item that for some reason I do not have from you - the memory dumps themselves. If you would be so kind, please retrieve them and send them to me. They are located in c:\windows\minidump and have file names like mini051908.dmp. Please get all of them - I don't care if there are hundreds of them. The more we can invite to this party the better - and may make the difference for you in quashing the BSOD infestation - hopefully.
There are two other items that I would like as well, please:
Please download these two executable files to your Desktop - Deckard's System Scanner (DSS), HERE and Trend Micro's HiJackThis from HERE.. Then double-click on DSS.exe - it may ask you for the location of HiJackThis. If so, tell it - it's on your Desktop. When finished in a minute or two, a Notepad will appear with a file name of main.txt - save it as a text file. Then minimized will be another report - extra.txt - save it as a text file as well. If extra.txt is not minimized, look in the folder c:\Deckard.
Please either send these to me via email and/or attach the zip file to your next post. Thanks.
Any ?? - just ask... OK?
Regards. . .
JC
