Question Hardware Interrupts causing high cpu idle.

Heya,
I having issues with my computer, its a HP pavillion a6300f,
Running an intel E2180 dual core, 2 gigs of ram and os vista 32 home premium.
I have issues with what process explorer describes as being a hardware interrupt, it uses between 25-99% of one of the cores capability and seems to use approximately 500-700mb of ram.
i have tried as much as i can muster.
Does anyone have any ideas that could save me a reinstall of my o/s.
i have called HP support but they seem more intent on, brushing me off, half assed guidance, or finding ways out of honouring my warranty than giving sound advice.
