Re: Run .scr in compatability mode?
Good morning All. . .
Sorry to interrupt again, but...
Apologies for my poor choice of words above. I was trying to ascertain if you were using an exe file to install a screen saver that originated from jpeg files. I had screen saver problems with a new Vista laptop in early 2008. That case turned out to be OEM involved - The manufacturer installed a screen saver which interfered with Vista.
There is one more thing that I would like to see, please - a dump of a registry key - perform the following:
Bring up an ELEVATED command prompt
START | type cmd.exe | right-click on cmd.exe up top | select Run as Administrator | answer the UAC prompt - Continue/enter Admin password
Now... copy and paste the following into the "DOS" command prompt box - EXACTLY as it appears - (paste = right-click on the top of the "DOS" command prompt box then select "Edit" then select paste):
Code:
reg query "HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop" > C:\$screen1.txt & start notepad c:\$screen1.txt
A notepad should appear with the registry key contents inside it. Copy all and paste results in your next post.
Also - what is the name of the scr file and how are you bringing it into Vista from XP?
Regards. . .
