I reset the router. then I couldn't connect even with the laptop. So I went through the setup routine on the router. It took a bit as I wasn't even the one who did this originally. But i got it done using the setup wizard... no fancy stuff. Interesting, half way through the program reported that the IP address of the router is being set to 10.0.0.1. then at the end it reported again that it was assigning that IP address as there may be a conflict with the ISP.
