Re: PC wont boot suspect hdd prob

Hi again Nick, When i was messing with this machine i decided to have a go at cleaning the dirt from the cpu cooling fan.......not having read up on it.

I took the 4 screws out and thats when i realised that these screws were holding more than just the fan cos all those fins fell over, anyway thought i may as well clean it now i came this far but not to go any further without reading up on some stuff, it was difficult to realign the fins to the underside of the fan but i managed it, trouble is i think i may have over tightened one of the screws cos i heard a crack. As i'm 99.9% sure the m/board was shot anyway so i'm not concerned whether i cracked the board but is it possible that this cpu has been damaged?

As for my last question, were you saying that i would need a new cpu or would i usually be able to transfer the old one to the new m/board?
