Re: How to force flash a Gateway notebook BIOS?

Something of interest and possibly some progress...

I've read of several key combinations that when held before powering up initiate a recovery mode for several different brands. I've tried them all on this Gateway with no success. Well I'd been experimenting with different combos randomly and ran into a Windows + R key combo that impacts the system in some strange way.

I can't see any output and the computer doesn't even start POST. It powers up and stays up without the fan on but seems completely unresponsive. This sounds similar to the many other posts I've read about a force flash sequence but I just don't know what to do next.

Of course this could be some obscure bug and not a feature. The fact that it's the R key (Rescue, Recovery) makes we think twice about a coincidence.

Anyway, if any of you have ever force flashed or recovery flashed your BIOS, could you lend some advice as to what to try? Possibly a USB floppy drive which I've read some systems require for such a task.

Thanks
