check your RAM and your hard drive. run CHKDSK /R on your hard drive. use XP install CD and boot into Recovery Console. after running CHKDSK, try running hard drive diagnostics. if you know the brand of your HDD, d/load the hard drive diagnostic utility from the link on my sig.
