Re: IE or Firefox don't find internet
Johnhook,
Before trying to reset the IP configuration I did a ipconfig on our laptop that I'm writting this as it is working fine on the network. Here's the results:

I am running XP home operating system. thinking I would try this on the laptop first, when I try to go to 192.168.1.1 with IE on the laptop IE responds with an ASK.COM response showing multiple sites where that IP is referenced. However, when I to to 10.0.0.1 with IE I immediately get a loggin and access to the router. 10.0.0.1 is evidently valid. When ever we have gone through any configuration routine we have always used the default setting instead on manual.... thinking the software/hardware gurus infinately more than I on this network stuff which is a given since I know nadda.
Ok, then just for interest i started the problem desktop, opened up IE and tried to go to 192.168.1.1 and 10.0.0.1. As I expected neither worked... not surprising as I couldn't ping 10.0.0.1 and 192.168.1.1 evidently isn't the gateway IP address (seems 10.0.0.1 is)
I feel abit like Edison. Every failure he had in trying to invent the light bulb said they were all sucessful in that he found on more thing that doesn't work... that's one step closer to finding the solution.
