I was having those problems as well,
#1 right click on the fable icon and go to properties and then compatibility, there you can change to 2000.
#2Also there is a WindowsBlinds compatibility issue with Fable, that was my problem. Can't remeber how to shut it off right now, but i'll bet money thats it
