I wonder if running the application in compatibility mode would allow it to run within Windows XP? I don't see that in Vista, but I've used it in XP. Simply right click on the .exe file you're trying to use and select the compatibility tab and try using the OS you're hoping to emulate. It might work. If it's really an old DOS program with a GUI, then perhaps something like TameDOS which works wonders on really old programs. I've got a client that needed to upgrade their computers for their accounting package but their scheduling package was DOS based. Found TameDOS and it has worked great for them for about 3 years now.
