Re: IE or Firefox don't find internet

Johnhook,

Well, I fired things up first to see if the computer is detecting the adapter. Bamm, right away the Netgear wizard starts up this time and I walk through the dialog screens selecting the country, the network, put in the WEP password and end up with a status window showng a performance graph like in task manager. 992 packets TX with 580 packets RX.

Did the hardware lookup per your instructions and the network adapter is listed. There is no yellow "!" or red "X" next to it. I looked at adapter properties and device status reports "The device is working properly". I did the scan for hardware changes... same list.

But things are still not rosey. Started IE with a return of "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". Attemped page was www.ucdavis.edu. tried to ping my computer IP (10.0.0.3) and the default gateway (10.0.0.1) with no success. Both times packets sent = 4, Received = 0, lost = 4

The adapter card is maybe 5 months old. Even though the system detects the adapter and reports it functioning properly is it possible it has gone south? How does one do a diagnostic on the card?
