Can't connect to certain pages?!
My computer gets internet from a wireless router on the other side of my house. Every other computer on the network has no problems connecting to the internet. For some reason, my computer has trouble browsing websites, but only certain websites. For example, I am able to load Google's homepage, but not my GMail account or any Google search results. Weird huh?
Other programs that use internet work perfectly (AIM, FTP Clients, BitTorrent), it's just the browsers that don't load properly (IE and Firefox). The problem started when I switched my wireless adapter's IP settings to static in order to improve bittorrent speeds. When I noticed that my browsing was messed up, I switched it back to automatic IP assignment, but it seems to have done no good. I also tried disabling the Windows Firewall, and making sure that FireFox is an excepted program. I am not running any active virus protection software, and I ran an Ad-Aware scan, but found nothing but some minor tracking infections.
I guess it's worth mentioning that I just built this computer a couple weeks ago, so everything in it is brand spanking new. I am running Windows XP. Am I leaving anything out? What could the problem be and what should I do about it?
