OS: Windows Vista Home Ed.

Arrow Vista taking way too long to load all of a sudden approx. 6-7mins.

hey everyone,

i just joined this website right now searching for what could be wrong with my pc.

everything was fine until a week ago. i shut my pc down and when i started it up the next morning it took 6-7mins to get to the desktop.

even before i see the green loading bar of vista, my pc constantly reads my floppy drive and my hard drive churns possibly at its max. speed. it takes about 2-3 mins for the green bar to come and from there another 3 minutes to get to the desktop.

normally it used to take me less than 15 seconds.

i just bought this pc about 6 months ago. my specs are as follows:

intel quad core @ 2.4 ghz.
3 gb ram
300 gb hard drive 1
300 gb hard drive 2
500 gb external hard drive

i have tried going to my bios and disabling the floppy drive from the boot priority options, that has not worked.

i dont know what could be wrong? i really do not want to format my hard drive as it is such a pain.

could anyone relate to my problem, and if possible suggest a solution?

thanks for your time.

ferdy
