Turn off ICS and try it, you'll never connect to the router with the PPP connection directly to your machine and ICS enabled.

Also, for the router, try this.

Some things you can try here.

Update the firmware to the latest version available on the manufacturer's site.
Reset the router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

Many times these measures will resolve a lot of intermittent issues.
