To remove that service, you could do this:
Go to Start > Run copy/paste the following then press Enter
sc stop "ewido security suite control"
Go to Start > Run copy/paste the following then press Enter
sc delete "ewido security suite control"
Seems you're comfortable in the registry, but beware! Always back up the registry before performing any manual changes.
As far as issues with AVG goes, best ask them. Or, there's an AVG support forum
here, which I think you've already visited.
