Okay, what's the site you're trying to cut/copy/paste from
this sounds like use of javascript to avoid copyright infringement but please do post back with more details...
What version of firefox are you using? you could try upgrading to Firefox 3b5 but i've never come accross your problem before unless it's website trickery
