Hi.
I have an ntl/virgin 10M modem connection, connected to a NetGear RT311 Router. The signal seems good, and the modem is relatively new.
On my main PC however, I have had an ongoing problem with random timeouts. Using Firefox, certain websites, (especially Facebook) will hang up on me for long periods of time. In order to repair my connection, I am forced to completely reset the connection through the router.
A few days ago, I tried installing ProxyWay in order to generate different IP's / Proxy settings. The software was inneffective so I uninstalled it. I also installed XP SP3. Since then I have had serious connection issues.
I have been pinging my gateway
www.ntlworld.com. I'm probably getting on average 1 ping loss in 6, in random order. My connection is also becoming completely intermittant and laggy.
I am currently using another PC and the ping and connection seem fine. It seems therefore that the issue is either ProxyWay settings, or something to do with SP3.
Any help on how to resolve this, or ideas about the random website connectivity issues would be most useful.
Thanks!
