to export the registry to a folder, right click on that registry entry (the one you will change) and click EXPORT. it will ask you for the name and where (i.e. Desktop) to put the exported file. it will create a .reg file on your chosen folder (i.e. Desktop).

as for the error, give full details of the error that you see. i am pretty sure if someone in the forum is familiar with it, you will get some replies and ideas on how to approach and resolve.
