As far as i can remember .. after reading an artical about WHS you need to Import the drives into WHS in order for windows to take advantage of them ....
I think its done in a console ... Log into the Server Console then into the Storage Tab in there you will see a list of all the drives connected to the system..Including your external USB drive...
You then need to add it to the server ... inorder to be able to access it ..
Just highlight the drive and click add...
Follow the wizzard and you should be ok ...

Just a quick note . when adding drives into WHS .. it will be formatted and all data will be lost... So backup the data first...
