Boot Freeze at Rage128 screen
I came home the other night to find that the keyboard on my Win98 machine wouldn't work, so I restarted from the Start menu. Once the computer powered all the way down and started booting, I immediately got the initial black screen with one line of text at the top: "RAGE128 PRO GL P/N 113-63109-100". Then, it just freezes at this point and never advances. It's ran fine for the past 3 years without any issues.
I took the cover off and made sure to clean everything very well, thinking that maybe excess dust could be causing problems, however, it didn't help.
The machine is a Dell Dimension 4100 with a Pentium III processor, obviously an ATI Rage video card and pretty standard stuff for an older Dell.
I tried booting from a bootdisk, and the restore CD, but it never gets to the actual boot screen from the "RAGE" screen, so that didn't work either. I really don't know what the problem could be since I'm not the best PC diagnostic guy, just know enough to be somewhat dangerous.
Anyone have any ideas before I buy another new computer?
I appreciate any help.
