Yes, I did check the power supply with a multimeter. I decided to check it again after your reply, Dai, and it is indeed supplying plenty of power. (The original video card is built in - I just tried one in the AGP slot because we had one and the computer had the slot). I agree that replacing the PSU would be much easier and much less costly than the mobo. Heck, we've got a half dozen PSUs lying around here (a prior guy bought a bunch of them). But since this power supply seems to be doing fine, and I ahd tried one of those extras in it, I guess I'm past that point, unfortunatley.
So, once more before I go ask the boss for money for a motherboard, is there anything else I may be overlooking?
