No, taking the battery out won't help.
Please post the system specifications, including the power supply.
You'll find the PSU info on the "box" inside the case.
If you have a HP, Dell etc,, it's enough to post the model name.
Get rid of static electricity by touching a radiator or bare metal on the computer case.
Then unplug the computer from the wall outlet and open the case.
Reseat the RAM stick(s) and the video card (if you have one).
