lol---when it first happened i was able to use web browser, and the icons on the desk top were staying up for longer. That got progressively worse over the course of the day till I could no longer connect to the web and then couldn't keep any of the windows open to initiate downloads or commands. The start-run-cmd was the first thing I've been able to do since yesterday afternoon when I posted my hijackthis log into this forum.
When I start it in safe mode, the desk top and start menu appear for a few seconds, and then the whole screen turns black
