Sorry for the delay. ok, i got into system restore. The only restore point that it allowed me to go back to was yesterday morning. I did that, and went through the motions with restore, and then restarted the computer, but the problem was still there. I then did start-run-cmd again, and got into system restore again to see if I could find a way to take it bact to an earlier point. But the box which enables you to go back, month by month, will not move from may 2008. So I'm still in restore and will wait for more instructions
