Re: Secondary IDE channel no 80 conductor cable installed (Different from [CLOSED] th

Ok, sorry for the delay. I had exams...

I looked closer at my primary HD, and one of the PINS on the HD was broken off. I guess that explains the the computer acting up. I discarded the HD with a broken pin and tried to take my slave and install winXP on it.

Unfortunately, it is still acting like it did before. As soon as I boot up, the computer freezes on "Detecting IDE Drives" and eventually says "Secondary IDE channel no 80 conductor cable installed"

A few things. I have a brand new IDE cable, and the HD is a Western Digital, WD Caviar, 60GB. I have tried the jumper settings for Master and for Single and neither work, as well. Also, just to save some time, I am using the BLACK IDE input for the drive, so everything SHOULD work.

Anyone have any ideas? I find it unlikely that by replacing a fan I somehow physically destroyed 2 hard drives. I was hoping my limit was one destroyed drive...
