Re: My Network is a mess...

Sharpz214,

Thanks for the feedback - this really helps.

You've got a Scientific Atlanta Cable Modem with USB & Ethernet connectivity as well as VOIP (Voice over IP) adapters to use Time Warner's digital telephone service.

Here's a link to the online manual for your cable modem:

http://scientificatlanta.com/product...es/4004041.pdf

Are you using the USB connection on the back of this device? If so, this might explain all of the confusion. DO NOT use the USB connection on your cable modem. You cable modem should have an ethernet (RJ45) jack on the back (3rd jack from the bottom) via RJ45 patch cable directly to the WAN or Internet connection on your SMC router. From there, your PCs should be connected to one of the 4 free Ethernet ports on your SMC router.

Go to:

http://www.smc.com/files/AL/MN_7004VBR_MN_E_final.pdf

for the manual for your SMC router. This will guide your through setting up your router for your cable broadband modem. Go to Page #22 on the above link and this will walk you through the configuration.

If you have any questions - please reply to this thread.
