HiHo!
Since I don't get any support from MS I'd like to ask the community for some support.
Since my mainboard had to be replaced in march due to a hardware defect my local pc dealer re-installed Win XP home (german). SP3 pre-realese(v.3264) was installed also.
For some time windows update worked correctly but now I am in some trouble when trying to install the "Kumulatives Sicherheitsupdate für Internet Explorer 7" (KB947864). Regarding the infos from the update pages this is a critical one and should be installed.
However, when trying to do so the update seems to be downloaded but the installation during windows shutdown fails.
De-activating usual suspects like anti-virus programs etc. did not solve the problem.
After some investigation I found error code 0x8007F0F1 as well as it's meaning: The update is incompatible with installed packages.
The update cannot be downloaded manually from MS update since it's recognized that the download did take place already.
Searching the download "IE7-WindowsXP-KB947864-x86-DEU.exe" on my PC and starting installation mitght be not a good idea also. Either the installation stops for the same reason or it's done and Windows get's screwed up.
By google I found only very few results for "KB947864" + "0x8007F0F1" and none of them helped me with my problem.
So, this is the hour of the experts in this forum, whose help I would appreciate very much.
How can problem be resolved, preferably without something like "windows re-install"?
Any help is extremely welcome!
Greetings from a guy living at the banks of a river in the east
