Greetings all. I blew my system away a few weeks ago and now my DSL connection keeps hanging. XP Pro, SpeedStream 5200. How long the connection lasts is very inconsistent, sometimes for a few days, sometimes for an hour. If you double click the connection icon, or click the network icon to look at the properties of the connection, the window flashes quickly then is gone. It appears that I'm connected - I'm not.

This behaviour only started after the fresh install onto a new hard drive.

I've changed NICs. Changed routers. Went directly into the modem. Nothing worked.

Any ideas would be most appreciated.
