Re: COD4 keyboard/mouse lockup
The keyboard is connect directly to the comp via PS/2. The wireless mouse receiver is connected via a USB converter to PS/2. So both are PS/2. I keep up to date with MS updates the moment they come up. I am running V 1.5.549 in COD4.
Some additional information........two days ago the instant I double clicked COD4 MP and the main menu came up I heard the blood curling "DUN!" that windows makes when theres an error. It instantly froze at main menu of COD4 with no visible cursor, interestingly as I moved the mouse around at certain points of the screen the cursor became visible, I believe this is because it was above the windows error message. I had to hard boot it and then windows went ape **** on me. For the first....5-7 restarts it told me there were windows files that were located in windows/system/config that were missing or corrupt. FINALLY it got to the disk check screen somehow and spent it spent literally hours spitting out this bullshit.
"Bad links in lost chain at cluster 8931 corrected.
Bad links in lost chain at cluster 8932 corrected.
Lost chain cross-linked at cluster 8933. Orphan truncated.
Lost chain cross-linked at cluster 8934. Orphan truncated.
Lost chain cross-linked at cluster 8935. Orphan truncated.
Lost chain cross-linked at cluster 8936. Orphan truncated."
Difference is my cluster numbers started at 13,000. Overall about half of them were "orphan truncated" and half were "corrected." I turned my monitor off and watched tv for about 3 hours only to find that its STILL spitting this stuff out. It had gotten up to 150,000. I did a hard reboot while it was doing that and everything has worked absolutely fine since, it booted right up.
Also....yesterday for the first time after this mysterious keyboard/mouse lockup I regained full control 5-10 seconds later. I don't recall changing anything since my last lockup and I did the same thing I always do which is just push buttons and try to kill the program.
I am going to delete my mouse and keyboard drivers after this post and reinstall them and try playing and I will post back with the results. I also have a question about my motherboard. I have a Biostar NF520-A2 according to the manual, the box and newegg. Yet when I run Dx diag it tells me the model is "NF61D-A2." Sisoft sandra also tells me its "NF61D-A2." Although i'm positive its an NF520-A2 there are three options for this board on the Biostar site. There are drivers for "NF520-A2 G" "NF520-A2 G+" and "NF520-A2 G SE." I do not know specifically which one mine is and I don't know how to find that out.
