Re: Memory slot 2 in Advent 8215 Nordic

Typically your DIMM slot 2 location is under the keyboard and under some shielding.

Macs made it simple with tooless keyboard removal. In your case typically you have to remove the snap in top bezel located above the function keys of your laptop.

BUT BEFORE UNSNAPPING this bezel, some laptops require removing the hinge covers. For that there is usually a small phillips screw on the backside of the hinge. Unscrew that and the laptop screen can fold completely flat. Once flattened you can safely remove the bezel.

Underneath the bezel you'll find some small phillips screws that hold the keyboard down. Remove them and the keyboard can come out with some coaxing near the space bar. At this point remember the keyboard is held to the the mobo with a very fragile printed circuit ribbon cable. These can usually be removed with some gentle tugging. Sometimes a locking tab secures the cable to the socket.

The secondary memory slot is typically under the keyboard. I've noticed that in HP's, Compaq's, Dells, Toshibas, Mac G4 and G3 powerbook and Ibooks.

An easy way to tell if you even have this secondary DIMM slot is to remove the SODIMM memory from the slot underneath your laptop and reboot your computer. IF it boots up then you have additional RAM underneath your keyboard.
