so you mean each time you power ON (regardless of type of boot) you get a power SHUT OFF (not a blue screen or a hang)? if this is so, it can be your RAM, or HDD, or something on motherboard (CPU or GPU).
d/load Ubuntu Linux live CD (use the link on my sig.) and burn the image into CD. you can use that CD to boot into a Linux environment. also you can use that CD to run Memtest86+ on your RAM modules. i suggest you do the latter first. When you boot with the Ubuntu live CD, it will give you a screen just like this
