I have a problem with my compaq presario v6000

Basically when i start it up i get the usual Compaq screen then onto a dos screen asking me whether i want to use:

Safe mode
Safe Mode networking
Last know config
normal mode etc....

with each of the above options i chose i then seems to loads up a list of dos commands, stops and cuts the power off

Its then repeats this constantly unless i hold the power button down to turn the computer off. I have done the usual f11 recovery but the problem is still the same.
