If you just want the program to "start", without doing anything extra, try putting a shortcut to it in the startup folder. I've got three on my computer located here:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

One of them is a script to create a system restore point on my first boot of the day. The other two are shortcuts to small utility programs.
