Disabling the Controller

I guess my next question would be how do I disable the Multimedia Audio Controller? I went to the control panel and went to Sounds and Multimedia but couldnt find anything in there. The only time I see it is if I go to Add/Remove Hardware and then it comes up. I am running windows 2000... if that helps
