If you right-click the damaged photos in Windows Explorer and select Preview, do the images still appear to be sliced?
What image-viewing software are you using?
Have you tried burning them to CD and viewing on another computer?
If you have any backups, are they also damaged when viewed on your computer? Do you have any photos from around the same time that are not damaged?
