dai, were you ever the prophet here. My "old" psu was less than 6-months old. I bought the mobo and cpu and assumed the psu would be fine. It wasn't. Bought a new one of those and the computer is working like a charm -- typing from it now.

One thing I did learn was that the thermal pad that came with my cpu was worthless. Heated up to 60c in less than 10 minutes. Scraped that off, cleaned the cpu and heatsink with high-grade isopropyl alcohol, and applied Ceramique. MAN, did that EVER make a huge difference!

I doubt you fellows have a complete understanding of how much I appreciated the ability to post here, the suggestions you offered, and your patience of my additional comments as I tried to rationalize this mess.
