Hi ragstar_99 and welcome to TSF !

One of your devices may not support standby/hibernate mode. Go to the device manager : start => run => devmgmt.msc. Check that all the devices there are correctly installed. If there's a red or yellow sign in front of the device's name then double-click the device and tell us what the error is. It's also possible that for one of your devices, the line "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked under the power management tab (not all devices have such a tab).

Check that you have enough free space on the hard drive for the hidden hiberfil.sys file to be created, that file will have to store everything that's in the memory so if you have 2GB of RAM you'll need at least 2GB of free disk space.

What are your page file settings? Right-click my computer => properties => advanced => settings under performances => advanced => change. Check that the max size for the page file is equal or bigger than the amount of RAM you have.
