Re: John McCain Doesn't Use a Computer
That is kind of hilarious to me. Maybe even more than hilarious if this is used to qualify someone for a particular position.
I am friends with a very skilled orthopaedic surgeon, a well-respected dermatologist, and a highly skilled Dental Surgeon who lives just down the road. None of these three personal friends want anything to do with personal computers although their office personnel do use computers in their business. Not one of them uses a personal computer.
Not one of them is the age of Mr. McCain. The orthopaedic surgeon is about fifty five, the dermatologist about 50 and the oral surgeon about 35. What the heck does age have to do with this issue?
I know that all of them use technology in their work as surgeons. The Ortho guy uses technology for knee and hip replacements (his specialty), the dermatologist uses technology for laser surgery, and the dental surgeon uses technology when doing tooth implants and oral surgery.
These three professionals each have about twice the educational achievement and intelligence of most people and they basically don't use personal computers and don't want them in their life. Therefore, difficult to see that has anything to do with old or out of touch.
I do think it would be unwise to tag any of these as being illiterate, quite to the contrary, they are mental giants who choose not to be attached to personal computers. I don't agee with their stance, but certainly do respect their wishes.
