Hi . . .

Welcome to the Tech Support Forum - Vista.

I believe that "Error 58" refers to issues involving security. Knowing Vista, I would look first at permissions. Have the groups or users file permissions changed? Was a group added somehow by Vista SP1? There could be an overriding "Deny" in a User Group (like "Everyone") to a user or user group's "Allow". Also check ownership of the shared file(s).

I would also check in and visit the Guest account. Is it active? If yes, assure it is password protected. Is the entrance to the Vista shared folder the "Anonymous" group?

That's all I can think of at this time. If I come up with any additional info, I'll post again.

Regards. . .
