Hi,

I am looking at a friends Packard Bell EasyNote L4 laptop running Win XP service Pack 2.

The laptop has a number of problems but my first priority is the mousepad, which has stopped working. The cursor just sits in the middle of the screen. The buttons for the mouse pad do not work either. If I plug in an external mouse, it works fine.

In device manager - under Mouse Properties - Hardware. It does not list any device.

Is this likely to be a hardware problem? As I said - the laptop has a lot of problems - e.g I can't run HijackThis or any registry cleaners for some reason. Could the mouse problem be related to this?
