Exclamation Chripping sound from harddisk

I have a seagate barracudda 80GB hdd ,now it is producing a somwat loud sound at startup , to tell the truth it sounded as if some bike is accelerating . I formated and defragmented the drive the sound has now reduced . i tested my hard disk with SeaTools for windows and the result i got was as follows.

short drive self test : passed
long drive self test : failed
short generic : passed
long generic : passed

Can anybody tell me whether I am at risk. Is my hardisk nearing the end of its life?
Please Help
