Question [SOLVED] Problem with my newly built Computer

I'm recently new to the computer building field, in my life I've always been interested in computer building and last week I finally pinched enough money together to buy a great gaming pc, the info of what I have is this:

Power supply - eXtreme Power Duo 600W (CoolerMaster)
Video card - Diamond HD 2400 Pro
Motherboard - Asus P5K-E
Hard drive - Maxtor Sata II/300
CPU - Intel Duo Core 2 inside
Framecase - CoolerMaster Elite 330
RAM - Kingston DDR 2 (2gb)
Operating system - Windows Xp Professional

I put it all together fine, wired fine, and all-together fit nicely. After I finished I plugged in everything my computer needs, and decided to put all of its software on it. At first, my computer's DOS would come up, I'd press a key and then it would bring up a message "CPU fan error" now I decided on well I must have done something wrong, when I was about to turn off the computer, It turned itself off, I thought that made sense if there was an error. Now my CPU's heatsink fan spun when it turned on and everything but I found I put the power supply cord from it in the wrong 4-pronged pin area so I switched it to the right one, which fixed that error message from coming up again. So now I'm thinking, okay well NOW I can put its software on. I turn it back on, pop in my operating system disc, and after 2% through it's job, the computer shuts off again. Now at this point im wondering if its my heatsink again, I check it again and there doesnt seem to be any problems with it. So I retry this whole thing again, and it did the same thing again. Any suggestions of why my computer keeps turning itself off??

I've never built a computer before this so I'm not sure if I need to install other software before my Operating System.

any suggestions or help would be much appreciated. ( ) Thank you
